Our client is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer (Payments Infrastructure) with strong experience in distributed systems, backend architecture, and transaction integrity to join their team as the second engineering hire
Your expertise in scalable infrastructure, secure API design, and multi-chain systems will be instrumental in building a modern stablecoin-based settlement platform for banks and fintechs
Location: remote
Required Time Zone: UTC-6 to UTC-3
Commitment: full-time
Compensation: $8,500 - $11,500/month + possible raise + equity
Skills:
- 6+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed systems in production
- strong experience with backend architecture and full-stack orchestration
- experience building highly concurrent, multi-chain infrastructure and applying hexagonal architecture
- strong understanding of idempotent processing, event-driven workflows, and database constraints
- strong experience designing secure APIs and authentication flows
- experience owning the end-to-end lifecycle of transactions involving real money
- strong understanding of system reliability, scalability, and transaction integrity
- highly independent, hands-on approach with a strong focus on shipping production systems
Will be a bonus:
- experience with NestJS/TypeScript, AWS, Terraform, and SQS
- experience with Go, Rust, Java, Elixir, or Zig
- experience with stablecoin payments, cross-border payments, ledgers, exchanges, or other high-stakes financial systems
- deep Web3/DeFi experience or a strong desire to transition from Web2 to Web3
- experience working with blockchain infrastructure, liquidity providers, or multi-chain systems
- strong curiosity about how money moves and the future of finance
Responsibilities:
- design scalable abstractions for integrating new blockchains and liquidity providers
- build systems that guarantee transaction integrity so that no payment is lost, duplicated, or double-spent
- develop and maintain high-performance backend infrastructure for stablecoin-based payments
- establish engineering standards around development patterns, testing, CI/CD, and AI tooling
- implement security-first systems capable of meeting institutional-grade security requirements and audits
- work directly with product leadership to define roadmap items, identify edge cases, and drive the planning process
- own critical payment flows from design through deployment and production operation
